In the early 1960s Soviet director Mikhail Kalatozov, along with a team of 200 people, shot in Cuba the superproduction "Soy Cuba". The original intention was that the film would be a powerful weapon for spreading the Cuban revolution, but it ended up being ignored after its debut in Havana and in Moscow. The film kept unknown to the West until the 1990s, when it was discovered by directors Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola. The documentary features testimonials from the surviving actors and technicians of "Soy Cuba", showing the contrast between Cuban and Slav cultures
